May 31, 2011 – 10:30 am PRE-CONFERENCE MEETING
"BRINGING CHPS TO AZ AND NM- OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARTICIPATION"

Hosted by the National Center for the Learning Environment, this meeting is intended to be for those individuals and firms who are interested in the program and want to support it by:

  1. Contribute to the CHPS AZ/NM fund – These monies will be monitored through CHPS Headquarters but available for use only in AZ and NM, and only for the development of the CHPS rating system. A general budget will be shared at this meeting. With the two teams running in tandem, there is an expectation that the process will be more efficient and less costly. Of course, each state will have issues related to that state's climates, codes, or standards; however, the majority of the system requirements should be similar.
  2. Participate on the committee – The entire process to develop a state-specific CHPS rating system is from 6 to 9 months, the difference will be in how often the primary team decides to meet. A primary team will be invited to participate throughout the entire process. The secondary team is made up of category professionals. These smaller teams, subdivided by area of expertise, will work on specific rating items. When their work is complete, the primary team will insert the items where needed. Expectations for committee work will be presented at the meeting
  3. Be a Vocal Supporter – You cannot give time or money at this stage but you would like to be kept informed about the status of the project. Additionally, you will talk about the program and encourage school districts and others to join the CHPS organization. It is free for District employees. The support team will be available to review committee work and/or complete surveys when asked.
Prior to making your committment, please visit the CHPS web site to see the work of other states. link here: www.chps.net
